The other night we went on a hike with our friends, the Stower's. (thanks for the idea wil!) It was so much fun! It is up in the Wellsville's and the best part about it?.... you drive longer than you hike for! It was so beautiful and we caught the leaves at the perfect time. What a beautiful earth! I'm going to miss this valley.

I really wanted to show our pictures of the hike we went on tonight... but the camera is nowhere to be found. But these pictures are pretty cute. I took them for Grandma Linney's Birthday and put her together a little book of Liam. Anyway expect more tomorrow!

So this is how lauren had liam... well i think i'll just fast-track til when she started having contractions. We were watching a matinee of transformers on the 4th of july when Laur started timing her contractions. They were anywhere from 7 to 12 minutes apart, but by the end of the movie they were consistently 6 minutes apart. The movie started at 4 and got out just after 6. Jon (Laur's brother) and I both enjoyed the movie intensly. Fortunately Laur was able to occupy her mind with more than just a mindless action movie... so she enjoyed it too. We filled the rest of the day up with getting ready for labor and didn't end up going to the hospital til about midnight or so. When we checked in Laur was dialated to a 2, which was what she was at two weeks prior. After a while, and stronger and consistent contractions they gave Laur some potocin, which helped her dialate. She got an epidural sometime in the early morning and may have faded into sleep a little, but nothing too deep. By just after noon o'clock she started getting really heavy contractions and the nurse decided to have her start pushing. She pushed for about an hour and had William at 1:35. He weighed 6.14 and had a cute little scream. Lauren was solid all the way through and was so happy to see Liam when he came out. Definitely the coolest experience ever. We enjoy liam's company; he is so easy to deal with.. i think. he only cries when he needs something, food, diaper change, sleep. As soon as we address the problem he's as happy as ever.

I got a new bike: Transition Double

This is me jumping on my new bike. Oooh la la I like it so much. It is crazy how much more fun it is to jump this bike than any other bike i've ridden. Right now I've got it set up as a single speed with a rohloff dh single speed tensioiner, some white transition wheels, and a Marzocchi 4x fork. It's a fun bike. My awsome wife got it for me for Christmas and I've been building it up since. the gears right now area 36-13 but I've got a 28 tooth chainwheel on the way.

WE'RE BACK!!

Hey bloggers, sorry I've been gone for so long. We haven't done a single post since we were in Switzerland. It's not that we haven't done anything cool since then... we've just been lazy. No, we've been too busy. I'm finishing school this May and boy am I excited. Lauren is pregnant and due July 10. We are stoked for our little boy to come into the world. We went to Kauai over the college spring break. Here are some pics.

All this text might run together so You might have to match the text up with the pic Another thing the swiss do is take advantage of their roofs. They either make them really steep and cool, or make them so you can walk on at least part of it. They also usually have trees and other shrubberies on them.

The curved wood beams in this pic are engineered curved glu-laminated beams. Other wise known as curved glu-lams. These are certainly the biggest ones I've ever seen. They are at the Bern Train station.

I've been dying to just walk around some of the neighborhoods down by Lake Geneva and look at some of the architecture, and note the things that the swiss do differently. A lot of it is what the rest of the world does also like the use of concrete. EVERYTHING is made of concrete over here. We shot this house because it had nice symetry and use of color.
This is also a prime example of a super functional thing the swiss do. Rather than plan a side door into the garage they put it right into the door. Plus it's a good use of color. Why don't we have yellow doors?

These people have there patio ontop of there garage. Good idea.
The red siding on this building are actually terra cotta things. so cool and good looking!

This was a really cool amphitheater in Avenches where the a real gold bust of Marcus Aurelius was found in an aquaduct. If you stand where Lauren is holding her hands out like she's the queen of the world then you are able to hear exactly what you're saying. The Romans figured out that if you speak 17 meters away from a wall then it will bounce back. So when you speak on that spot it sounds like you're talking into a microphone.
This is a typical shot in a town. This is Solothurn where there are 11 spouts on some fountains, 11 stairs per set in front of the cathedral, all sorts of groupings of 11.
This is Gruyeres. Very pretty, and this is the town that the cheese is named after. It's a small pedestrian village.
This is the entrance to H.R. Geigers museum/gallery. He was the designer of the "Alien" creatures in the movie. His stuff is pretty dark and scetchy. I'd like to say some of his work is boarder-line pornographic, but that wouldn't be quite true. I'll just say, some some of his work is pornographic. It was, however, pretty interesting.
This dude was lighting the place up with his awsome wood xylophone skills. I would have loved to see him and Ty Whitesides have a xylo battle. And yes he did sing too.
